Songkran Celebration in Kuwait

On 11 April 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy, in collaboration with the Thai Community Association in Kuwait, organized the annual Songkran Festival to celebrate the traditional Thai New Year, preserve Thai cultural heritage, and strengthen the bonds within the Thai community. The event was warmly attended by Thai nationals residing in Kuwait.

On this special occasion, the Embassy respectfully enshrined Phra Phuttha Sirinthorn Thepparat Mongkhon Phuwadon Santi, the Embassy’s principal Buddha image graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The sacred image was presented for ceremonial bathing by Buddhist devotees as a gesture of blessing and merit for the Thai community in Kuwait.

His Excellency Ambassador Ekapol Poolpipat presided over the opening ceremony and praised the unity and dedication of the Thai community. He emphasized that Songkran is a meaningful occasion that reflects the enduring bonds of love, solidarity, and the continued commitment to preserving Thai cultural traditions abroad, even amidst today’s global and regional challenges.

The event featured traditional Thai games, lucky draws, and a shared meal in an atmosphere filled with joy and warmth. It not only uplifted the spirits of Thai nationals and their families in Kuwait, but also reaffirmed the strength, unity, and pride of the Thai community in preserving its cultural identity abroad.
