ASEAN Cultural Exchange in Kuwait
On 18 May 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuwait participated in the ASEAN Cultural Exchange event organized under the ASEAN Committee in Kuwait (ACK), held as part of the International Women’s Group (IWG) Dinner at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kuwait. Nine embassies of the resident ASEAN member states in Kuwait took part in this vibrant celebration of Southeast Asian culture, diversity, and tourism recovery.
The event, jointly organized by IWG and ACK, aimed to highlight the rich cultural tapestry of Southeast Asia by showcasing each country’s unique heritage and identity. It also fostered stronger ties between the diplomatic corps and the international community in Kuwait through cultural diplomacy and shared experiences.
On this occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy curated an engaging cultural exhibition featuring a fruit and vegetable carving demonstration, a display of traditional Thai arts and crafts, and video presentations promoting Thailand’s tourism and cultural attractions. These activities aimed to convey the uniqueness and charm of Thai culture to a broad international audience.
A special highlight was the presentation of the world-renowned Thai dish “Tom Yum Kung,” which has been inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This flavorful and iconic dish drew significant attention from attendees, serving as an effective medium for promoting Thailand’s culinary excellence and culture.
The event demonstrated the strength of ASEAN unity and the power of cultural exchange in deepening mutual understanding and people-to-people connections with the Kuwaiti public. Through the lens of soft power, the Royal Thai Embassy remains committed to strengthening regional cooperation and promoting Thailand’s rich heritage abroad.
