On 14 December 2019, around 400 nationals of ASEAN member countries in Kuwait joined ASEAN Family Day 2019 jointly organised by the ASEAN Committee in Kuwait (ACK), consisting of the Embassies of countries in South East Asia nations; namely, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Malaysia, Myamar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam at Kuwait University Sport Facilities. At the opening, Mr. Pisoot Suwanrasami, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of Thailand, current chair of the ACK, thanked the ASEAN community for their active participation in this event which demonstrated unity and friendship among ASEAN countries and peoples. The ASEAN Family Day is an ACK tradition held in December every year intended to promote unity and solidarity among ASEAN community in Kuwait as well as to increase the awareness of ASEAN as a community among the Kuwait citizens.

The ACK chair also emphasized that to strengthen the people to people relations among ASEAN citizens is very important in achieving ASEAN’s goal of “One Vision, One Identity, One Community” as our Founding Fathers have dreamt of over 52 years ago.

Activities on the day included zumba dancing, raffle draws, fun games such as musical chairs, hip hip hooray, tic tac toe, tug of war, sack race and balloon walking as well as sharing of ASEAN national foods. Smiles and laughter were spread all around through the day.
