On 20 May 2025, His Excellency Ambassador Ekapol Poolpipat of the Kingdom of Thailand, hosted a dinner at ้his Residence in honour of His Excellency Ambassador Zhang Jianwei of the People’s Republic of China, and Madame, on the occasion of the completion of the successful diplomatic mission in Kuwait.

Ambassador Ekapol expressed appreciation for Ambassador Zhang’s proactive diplomacy and constructive engagement within the diplomatic corps in Kuwait. He also underscored the longstanding friendship and deeply rooted diplomatic relations between Thailand and China—grounded in shared history, cultural affinity, and a comprehensive strategic partnership.

In response, Ambassador Zhang conveyed his sincere gratitude for the warm friendship and close cooperation throughout his tenure. He also expressed confidence that China–Thailand relations would further strengthen across all dimensions in the years ahead. Ambassador Zhang also made reference to his next diplomatic assignment in a country of strategic potential in Southeast Asia, where he looks forward to advancing close cooperation across all sectors.

The dinner was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere and attended by distinguished ambassadors from countries with close ties to both China and Thailand, including His Excellency Ambassador Vladimir Zheltov of the Russian Federation; His Excellency Ambassador Sman Manan of the Kingdom of Cambodia; His Excellency Ambassador Boun Inthabandith of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic along with their spouses; and His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Nguyen Duc Thang of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The evening was filled with goodwill and camaraderie, highlighting the deep personal friendships that continue to strengthen regional cooperation. Ambassador Ekapol concluded by stating, “While tonight marks the close of one chapter, it also begins another—one of renewed friendship and deeper engagement between us. We all extend our heartfelt best wishes for Ambassador Zhang’s continued success in his new assignment."
