On 17 September 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuwait organized “Rediscovering Health and Wellness Tourism in Thailand” at the Hilton Garden Inn Kuwait. The event aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Kuwait in the fields of health services and wellness tourism. It also reaffirmed Thailand’s leadership as a regional Medical Hub, in line with Kuwait Vision 2035, which envisions a dynamic economy driven by the private sector.

On this occasion, Dr. Abdulaziz Al Rasheed, representative of the Ministry of Health of Kuwait, attended the event on behalf of Dr. Hisham Kelendar, Assistant Undersecretary for External Health Services, while Mrs. Athari Al Saleh, representative of the Ministry of Information, participated on behalf of Mr. Osama Hamad Al-Makhyal, Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism Affairs. The event also brought together delegates from eight of Thailand’s leading private hospitals (Piyavate Hospital, World Medical Hospital, Praram 9 Hospital, Bangkok Hospital, Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, Chularat 3 International Hospital, Phyathai Hospital, and MedPark Hospital) as well as senior executives from various healthcare institutions in Kuwait.

Mrs. Uraiwan Courtaud, Chargée d'Affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuwait, presided over the opening ceremony. In her opening remarks, she emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in health services and wellness tourism between Thailand and Kuwait, which serves as a crucial foundation for deepening and expanding the long-term relationship between the two countries.

The event featured a range of activities designed to strengthen bilateral healthcare cooperation. It began with a Business Showcase session, where representatives from Thailand and Kuwait shared their visions and highlighted their capabilities. This was followed by Business Matching sessions, enabling delegates from both countries to engage in direct discussions on initiatives such as patient referral systems, medical personnel exchanges, and joint training programs. The event also included a Networking Reception, which provided an important platform for building professional relationships and fostering long-term partnerships, as well as a Hospital Visit aimed at deepening understanding of Kuwait’s healthcare landscape and identifying opportunities for future cooperation.

The “Rediscovering Health and Wellness Tourism in Thailand” event marked another significant milestone in advancing bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Kuwait. It is expected to pave the way for hospitals in both countries to jointly develop a more comprehensive and patient-centric referral system that effectively meets the needs of those seeking medical treatment, while also laying the foundation for future medical personnel exchange programs. Moreover, the event reaffirmed international confidence in the quality and excellence of Thailand’s healthcare services and contributed to strengthening the long-term growth and sustainability of the health and wellness tourism market from Kuwait to Thailand.
