On 27 November 2013 the Ambassador of Thailand attended the Transfer of ASEAN of Chairmanship ceremony from Brunei to Myanmar at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Kuwait.  Myanmar will host the ASEAN Chair in 2014 for the first time since the country joined ASEAN in 1997.  In this occassion, the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam gave a speech to farewell the Ambassador of Myanmar for his new assignment in Riyadh.  All ASEAN ambassadors also presented a farewell gift to the Ambassador of Myanmar as a token of friendship.
